Most Asked Questions About Burning PC Games And Using Daemon Tools
What Is Daemon Tools?
Daemon Tools is a free application that "takes care" of advanced copy protection emulation, and it is a virtual CD drive.
This means that you can play a copy of nearly any computer game available – all you need is the image of the disc.
We do not support software piracy in any way, shape, or form. We cannot and will not be held responsible for what you are going to do with this program. This is not a guide to teach you how to pirate software; it is for educational purposes only.
Why Does It Take So Long To Dump Images of Protected Games?
Basically, this is because there are some problems reading the 'unreadable' sections that some copy protections use. To get by this, you can use Daemon Tools FastDump feature if the game is protected by Safedisc.
Why Is My Game Asking Me For A CD When I Have It Mounted?
First off, make sure it's mounted correctly.
If it is, there could be a few problems. Try these helpful solutions:
- Most games must be played from the drive they were installed on, so make sure you use the same virtual drive.
- Some oddball games need to be played from the lowest drive letter, although the reason puzzles me.
- Make sure you're using the right copy protection scheme with Daemon Tools!
Why Doesn't The Safedisc 2 Emulation Work?
Use the helpful FastDump feature of Daemon tools to make the image!!
I Downloaded This ISO From The Web And It Isn't Working. Why??
Don't know. Don't care. We don't support the use of illegal copies, and will not help you with your problems using them.
Why Won't Daemon Tools Open This?
- You didn't dump the image right. Re-do it using a lower speed, or another program.
- You used EasyCD, which doesn't follow the correct ISO protocol. Use another program.
- Your image wasn't burned with the right program. Do it again!
How Can I Create A CD Image?
Use something like Alcohol 120%, Disc Dump, Blindwrite, CloneCD, or CDRWin.
When I Try To Make An Image, it Stops With An Error. Can I Get This To Go Away?
- Try changing the name of the virtual drives in Daemon Manager.
- Download the new version, and if you already have it, look through the forums for a good post about your problem. If it's not there, post one, and describe in detail what's wrong.
I Made an Image With One App, And Want To Burn it With Another One, But It Won't Recognize My Image!
You need to mount the image that you got with the first software, and burn it with the second software using Daemon Tools Generic DVD-ROM, which will contain the mounted image.
Help, My Writer Isn't Able to Burn In RAW Mode, And Doesn't Write Subchannel Data. What Can I Do To Create A Working Backup?
If your CD is protected by Laserlock, Securom, Safedisc, or Safedisc 2, create the 1:1 copy anyway, and enable the correct emulation option in Daemon Manager to play it. Remember that for Safedisc 2, your image has to have been created using Daemon Tools FastDump!
My Image is Perfect, And Works When Mounted, But I Can't Get The Burned Copy To Play. Why??
Most likely, your software is protected by Safedisc 2!
If it's not too big, burn the image file to a CD. It creates a safe, reliable backup copy.
Can I Use CDRDAO with Daemon Tools?
Yep, but we can't guarantee that it always works perfectly.
I Don't Know What My CD Is Protected By – Can I Use Safedisc, Securom, and Laserlock Emulation Options At The Same Time?
Sure, this shouldn't be any trouble, but it may not work all the time.
There's No Sound From My Mounted Image! HELP!
First off, your soundcard driver might simply not be EDM compatible, or you didn't enable the Digital CD Audio for Generic DVD-ROM'. Check with the manual to figure out how to do it with your version.
If that doesn't work, enable Analog Audio in Daemon Manager.
Is It Possible To Mount An Audio Cuesheet When It Refers to .mp3 Files?
Nope, all files must be in .wav format. Why would you mount .mp3 files when you can play them straight from your hard drive, anyway?!
It Would Be So Awesome If Daemon Tools Would Support Other Program's Image Formats. Will That Ever Happen?
Maybe. It's possible, but there's nothing at this time that says a for sure yes.
Will Daemon Tools Ever Support More Then Four Drives?
No.
Will Daemon Tools Emulate My CDRW?
...No. It makes no sense.
