Problems Downloading the Pathetically Small .Torrent File?

There's a bunch of common problems that are associated with downloading a .torrent file.

  1. You've got your client, but it's simple not associated with your .torrent files yet. This happens, don't worry about it. Save it to your desktop, then from the desktop right click, Open With, and if you're client isn't on the list, get Choose Program, and find your client in there. Make sure to check the 'Always Use The Selected Program to Open This Kind of File' before you open it, so you don't have to deal with it again.

  2. You can't get the .torrent file to download. When you click on Download Torrent, you get either a 'This Page Cannot be Displayed', or simply a black page.

Some ISPs and most schools block .torrent files from being downloaded. You can get around it by downloading the text version to your computer, renaming the file extension .torrent, and then opening it in your client.

This is not saying that it is okay to undermine authority, or get yourself expelled from school by finding ways around the system.
